Kakurinbo
Korinbo is a part of the main sub-temple of Gyokakuin, founded about 550 years ago by St. Nitcho, the 11th head priest of the Kuonji head temple of the Nichiren Buddhism sect and the restorer of Mt. Minobu.
He devoted himself to the prosperity of Nichiren Buddhism and lost sight in both of his eyes due to overexertion. Overcoming this hardship with his strong faith, he is loved by many people as the “God of Eyes” and the “Deity of Learning.”
The sumptuous dinner containing Yuba (tofu skin), a local specialty of Minobu Town, is a special treat for guests. The view of the Japanese garden landscaped by the most prominent Zen master, Muso Kokushi, is also a unique attraction of this temple lodge.
The exclusive lunch “Oteranchi” served with “Akebono soybean natto” (fermented soybeans) produced only at this temple, is a must-try meal when you visit Minobu Town.
