In Minobu’s long history as a temple mountain, many fascinating historical cultures, traditional crafts, food cultures, and traditional performing arts have been handed down to the present day and still form a part of daily life. Since the bearers of these traditions did not actively disseminate information aimed for tourism, it has been difficult for visitors to learn about their traditions. Mt. Minobu is one of the three most sacred Buddhist mountains in Japan along with Mt. Hiei and Mt. Koya. Although Minobu town has been known in recent years as a sacred place from popular manga cartoons, many people do not know the specific location of the town. As a region located in the southern part of Yamanashi prefecture, one may think of it as a remote area. However, it is easily accessible from the Tokyo metropolitan area, taking less than 3 hours from Tokyo by direct bus. Seeing is believing; come and enjoy the natural blessings and historic atmosphere of this mountainous region.
